“I came to Wisconsin to earn my degree in Social Welfare at UW–Madison, never expecting that Wisconsin would become home. Thirty years later, I’m still here—living with my husband Rob and our two rescued dogs from Oklahoma, Moses, a gentle Great Pyrenees, and Lola, a spirited American Bully.
My journey into sanctuary work began in 2011 as an animal care volunteer, where I first met and fell in love with farm animals. It didn’t take long to realize that they are every bit as unique as the dogs and cats we share our homes with—each with their own personalities, preferences, and specific care needs. What started as volunteering quickly grew into a lifelong calling.
Over the past 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of serving animals in many roles, including volunteer coordinator, direct caregiver, facility manager and shelter director. Today, I’m honored to be part of a dedicated sanctuary partnership committed to protecting and advocating for the animals who need it most.
I believe deeply that non-human animals are not here to serve us. Choosing to be vegan has been the most meaningful life decision I’ve made, and it continues to guide my work and purpose. My hope is to share my knowledge with as many people as possible, so that others can experience the magic of befriending a chicken, communing with a turkey, or sharing a laugh with a playful goat or pig.
All are welcome here.”
